Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible for DocuScan

DocuScan is provided by Cristiano Aprigliano, an independent developer. For privacy questions or requests, email cristiano.aprigliano7@gmail.com.

2. Documents, images, and local storage

Documents you scan or import, along with generated files and recognized text, are stored locally on your device by default. Cristiano Aprigliano does not operate a server that receives or stores the contents of your documents.

Your files may leave the device only when you deliberately use an Apple system feature or another service to export, share, print, sync, or back them up. In that case, the privacy terms of the destination you choose apply. Device backups and cloud services configured at operating-system level are controlled by you and their respective providers.

You can delete documents from within the app. You can remove the app and its locally stored data using iOS, subject to any copies you previously exported or backed up.

3. Camera, photo library, and files

DocuScan requests camera access only so you can photograph documents. If import features are available, the app may also request access to photos or files you select. These permissions are used to provide the feature you initiated. You can review or revoke permissions at any time in iOS Settings; doing so may prevent the related feature from working.

4. Optical character recognition (OCR)

Where OCR is available, text recognition is performed on your device using system technology. Document images and recognized text are not sent to Cristiano Aprigliano for OCR. If a future version introduces cloud-based recognition, this policy and the relevant in-app disclosure will be updated before that processing is used.

5. Advertising and consent

The free version of DocuScan may display ads provided by Google AdMob. When advertising is enabled, Google and its partners may automatically process information such as device or advertising identifiers, IP address, general device information, ad interactions, approximate location inferred from an IP address, and diagnostic data. The exact data used depends on your region, device settings, consent choices, and how AdMob is configured.

Where required, DocuScan asks for advertising consent through Google’s consent tools and provides access to privacy choices. Personalized advertising or tracking is used only where the necessary consent or permission has been obtained. On iOS, an App Tracking Transparency prompt may also be shown before access to the advertising identifier is requested. If consent is not given, ads may be non-personalized or limited, but contextual delivery may still involve basic device and network information.

6. Remove Ads purchase

DocuScan may offer a “Remove Ads” in-app purchase. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Cristiano Aprigliano does not receive your payment-card details. The app may receive and store on your device purchase status or transaction information needed to unlock and restore the entitlement. Apple processes purchase information according to its own privacy policy.

After the entitlement is active, DocuScan stops requesting and displaying ads as designed. This does not retroactively delete information previously processed by Google or its partners; their privacy controls and retention practices apply.

7. Support communications

If you contact support, Cristiano Aprigliano receives the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message, and any attachments. It is used only to answer your request, troubleshoot the issue, keep necessary records, and protect against abuse. Please do not send confidential documents. Support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably needed for these purposes or to meet legal obligations, then deleted or anonymized where practical.

8. Website privacy

This website does not use analytics, advertising trackers, marketing cookies, contact forms, or third-party fonts. Standard technical logs may still be created by the hosting provider for security, reliability, and delivery of the site. Those logs are controlled by the hosting provider and are not used by Cristiano Aprigliano to profile visitors.

9. Data retention, deletion, and your choices

Locally stored documents remain on your device until you delete them or remove the app. Advertising data and App Store purchase data are retained by the relevant third parties under their own policies. You can manage camera and tracking permissions in iOS Settings, adjust consent through any privacy-options control available in the app, and manage purchases through your Apple account.

You may ask about personal data directly held by Cristiano Aprigliano, or request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection where applicable, by emailing the address above. Identity verification may be required before completing a request. Because document contents are not held on a developer server, the developer cannot access or delete documents stored only on your device or with a service you selected.

10. Children

DocuScan is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required in their country for independent consent to data processing. The developer does not knowingly collect children’s personal information. If you believe a child has sent personal information through support, please make contact so it can be addressed.

11. Security and international processing

Reasonable measures are used to protect information under the developer’s control. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Third-party providers such as Apple, Google, email providers, and hosting providers may process information in countries other than your own, using the safeguards described in their policies.

12. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when DocuScan’s features, third-party services, or legal requirements change. The revised version will be published on this page with a new effective date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app where appropriate.
